The Center for Robotics and Automation (CRA), Nirma University, proudly celebrates a remarkable achievement as Team Nirma AUV secures the National Championship title for the third consecutive year at AMUROVc 4.0, held at Aligarh Muslim University on 7–8 February 2026.
Competing against top teams from across the country, Team Nirma AUV demonstrated exceptional technical excellence, precision, and operational efficiency by successfully completing all competition tasks with bonus points to emerge as the overall champion.
Task 0 – Technical Inspection:
The underwater robot underwent rigorous evaluation of weight, dimensions, and technical compliance. Team Nirma secured the highest score in this round.
Task 1 – Navigation & Endurance Test:
The ROV was required to pass through an underwater gate within 30 seconds. The team completed the task in an impressive 25 seconds.
Task 2 – Night Challenge:
The ROV had to identify an assigned colour and pass through only the corresponding gates under low-visibility conditions. Team Nirma achieved the highest score in this challenging task.
Task 3 – QR-Guided Pick and Place:
The ROV scanned five underwater QR codes to determine object pickup and placement locations. The team completed this complex task in the shortest time, earning top marks.
Bonus Racing Round:
Team Nirma once again secured first position, reinforcing its overall dominance in the competition.
In recognition of its outstanding speed and performance, the team received the “Fastest Performance Award”, along with the Championship Trophy and a cash prize of ₹25,000.
The winning team members are Uday Gupta, Moksh Kandhari, Aum Joshi, Akshat Tayal, Kutbuddinn Petrolwala, Jeet Patel, Devarsh Solanki, and Aadhya Dave, mentored by Dr. Mihir Chauhan and Dr. Akash Mecwan.
This historic hat-trick victory further strengthens CRA’s leadership in innovation and excellence in underwater robotics.
