Team Nirma AUV Secured Second Prize at International SAUVC 2026 in China

The Institute of Technology, Nirma University, is proud to announce that Team Nirma AUV secured the Second Prize along with a cash award of SGD 1,000 at the Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) 2026, held at Sanya, China, from 28–31 May 2026.

SAUVC is one of Asia’s premier competitions in autonomous underwater robotics, bringing together student teams from leading universities across the globe. This year, the competition attracted more than 180 registered teams, of which 50 teams were shortlisted for the final stage and 31 teams participated at the competition venue.

Demonstrating outstanding technical expertise and innovation, Team Nirma AUV delivered the fastest performance in the first round by successfully completing the assigned task in just 14.2 seconds, securing the top rank in that round. Based on its overall performance, the team achieved an impressive second position in the international competition.

The team comprised Uday (EE), Moksh (EC), Akshat (EE), Qutbuddin (ME), Aum (EE), Jeet (CSE), Devarsh (ME), and Aadya (EI), under the mentorship of Dr. Mihir Chauhan and Dr. Akash Mecwan.

The success of Team Nirma AUV reflects the strong culture of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and hands-on learning fostered at CRA and Nirma University. The University provided extensive support throughout the project, including access to swimming pool facilities for testing and validation, transportation assistance, and other logistical support that enabled the team to prepare effectively for the international event.
